Everything Was Fine

I was upgraded to a deluxe room, which was very nice. Staff and service were very good. No complaints whatsoever. The King David Lounge is great. Breakfast on Saturday was not as good as I remember from my last visit. Was that do to it being on Saturday morning? But, the cheesecake was out of this world and I usually do not like it. All in all, it was the perfect choice for the one night stay and our last night in Israel.

Dan Tel Aviv markets itself as a 5 star hotel; but doesn't come close. Disappointment starts at arrival when there is no doorman; only a security guard and an insolent bell boy who didn't know what valet parking was, because they don't have it. Most disappointing was the room. It was sold as a deluxe room but was, although well appointed, much less than the spacious room that was advertised and displayed on the web site. Although fitting the description of a standard room, the manager insisted that it truly was a deluxe room; standard rooms were much smaller. The paneling around the door to the bathroom was coming away exposing nails. Service to overcome deficits was, however, quite prompt; they quickly provided additional towels (each day) when we discovered that only two were provided. Face cloths only arrived on the third day. And then there never was a concierge on duty. Breakfast however was quite spectacular, a wide variety of very interesting foods.
