Overview
Sea. Sky. Golden days. Enchanted nights. Spanish Colonial warmth. Old Hollywood glamour. New California dreaming.
There was a time when getting away for a few days and coming back looking rested, rejuvenated and renewed wasn't considered an indulgence but a necessity. A time when afternoons were whiled away by the sea, under wide skies, warmed by the sun. Playing a game of croquet. Sipping a glass of chilled rosé. With clever friends. In good company. The feeling was completely informal and it was in precisely that very relaxed attitude that the luxury lay.
This is the essence of Bacara: Elegance, understatement, complete serenity.
Snooze. Kick off your shoes. Take in the views.
Every one of the 311 rooms and 49 specialty suites is luxurious, understated, intimate and relaxed. Every room features a private patio or balcony.
From 450-square-foot Garden View rooms with lush panoramas of the gardens or courtyards to the Presidential Residence which features 3,700 square feet of discretion and serenity spread over two stories, you'll find all the comforts of home, and then a few wonderful extras.
All rooms are equipped with high-speed internet access, multi-line phones, well-stocked mini bars, soft robes and slippers, Frette bed and bath linens, DVD players, and many other amenities.

Wonderful California setting! For many reasons, this environment and structure provides a very peaceful, tranquil experience. I brought my mother and two small children on the day before Christmas. We LOVED it. -Virginia, from Encino, United States - 12/29/2009
Road Trip Stayover

My wife and I decided to take a road trip down Highway 1 from Carmel to San Diego. We stopped along the way at Santa Barbara and to our dismay, could not find a room anywhere. We stopped in at the Canary Hotel in Santa Barbara where no rooms were available but were helped by the front desk in finding an available room elsewhere. They suggested we try the Bacara Resort and even made the call for us. As it turned out we were able to obtain a room for the night. We have traveled all over the world and have stayed at some very nice hotels before and I must put this resort right in the top of the list. The grounds are beautiful and the Spanish themed architecture is right on for the area. The staff was pleasant and well informed. The room was appointed in tasteful amenities and overlooked a gorgeous pool and spa. My wife and I spent a three hour dinner at the Bistro and enjoyed every tasteful morsel of food. I especially like the idea that the Bacara has their own produce farm. -Robert Machado, from Lodi Ca , United States - 10/16/2009

Birthday Getaway At Bacara

The room was beautifully decorated and very peaceful. The only disturbing thing was that housekeeping knocked on the door well after 9 PM for turndown service and we were already sleeping. This service should be completed during the dinner hour, I believe. -Gerhardt, from Ventura, United States - 7/29/2009
Resort Price at a Hotel 6

I took my husband to Bacara Resort to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Due to poor service, we were forced to cart all of our belongings up and down hills to our ground level room. Mind you, we paid $500 a night to stay in it. The room was small, and located directly on the "go cart" valet pathway. we were up all night, being placed underneath a party that were up all night, stomping and yelling all night. At 6 am, we were awakened by the squeaks of the valet and maid carts, as our room was on the steepest hill. Unbelievable. We checked out early, after a bit of complaining, we did get a later 4 pm check out, however, the resort was cold and foggy, so we opted to depart at noon. We took our things to the entrance where we were put in our car very kindly, by cute surfer guys. But, all in all, as lovely as the pool area is, and as lovely as the dinner we had was, we will never return. We got a Motel 6 evening for 1000 bucks. Miserable. -Janet Roberts , from salinas, United States - 10/6/2008
A Truly Great Escape

The hotel is lovely, and the setting, sublime. The staff from parking attendants and bell hops to front desk are exceptional and on a "know your name" basis from the get go. The rooms are a bit sparse for the price, though they lack nothing but good lighting. The Spa is deluxe; plenty of towels, sundries, bathrobes, and quality technicians. The 20% gratuity was high, but the staff warranted it. It did make these the most expensive massages we have ever had, and that is saying something. All in all, our time spent there truly felt as though we had been away for longer than two days. Though one of the pools is under construction, the other was functioning, warm, and inviting. We highly recommend Bacara. -Mason, from beverly hills, United States - 3/28/2008
