Price gripes aside, the staff are absurdly friendly, and the resort itself is absolutely gorgeous. Hands down the best resort in Laguna Beach.

When we arrived at the Montage, we were met by a staff member who took us directly to the room and handled the registration there. We were in the room within 3 minutes of arriving in the hotel driveway. The staff had discovered it was my wife's birthday and they upgraded our room. I didn't tell them about the birthday. They discovered it when flowers that I had ordered arrived before we did. Next, the bellman arrived with our bags and a complimentary bottle of champagne. It happened to be my favorite brand, by coincidence. Everyone there seemed to know our names and that it was my wife's birthday. All in all, this was the best hotel experience we have had. We have been in many 5-star hotels before and none were better.
