Overview
Opened in 1923, this impressive stucco-fashioned edifice is Rio's most traditional and luxurious hotel. This landmark was designed by the French architect Joseph Gire who was inspired by two hotels, the Negresco in Nice and the Carlton in Cannes. Right on Copacabana beach, the Copacabana Palace is South America's most famous hotel welcomes the rich and famous.
The thrill of Rio de Janeiro is a physical one. Drama is built into the landscape, with Sugarloaf Mountain rearing up behind the Atlantic coastline, and the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer surveying the scene.
When it comes to relaxation the possibilities are endless. The Copacabana Palace boasts a magnificent semi-Olympic size swimming pool, which is without doubt the finest in Rio, and its rooftop tennis court is the only one of its kind in Rio.
