Overview
A brief 15-minute ride from the airport, Hotel Kurá Hulanda Spa and Casino is nestled above the glorious St. Anna Bay in central Willemstad (the capital city of Curacao) near the Queen Emma Bridge floating bridge. The 65 buildings that comprise Hotel Kurá Hulanda Spa and Casino are the Museum Kurá Hulanda's largest exhibit -- a superb collection of 18th and 19th century architecture. This Dutch Colonial historic district is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Hotel Kurá Hulanda Spa and Casino is a 80-room luxury boutique resort located within a village complex known as Project Kurá Hulanda an initiative of Jacob Gelt Dekker. This historic and environmental preservation project is funded by the Jade Foundation, which was established by Jacob Gelt Dekker and John Padget. Within this village complex are several outstanding properties in addition to the hotel, which comprise the project that spans 8-blocks. These properties include a 21st century conference center, the Museum Kurá Hulanda (a world-acclaimed anthropological museum), Spa Kurá Hulanda - member of Leading Spas of the World, and the new Casino Kurá Hulanda.

We stayed at both the Hotel Kura Hulanda and the sister property to the North, Lodge Kura Hulanda. The Hotel is a truly amazing piece of history. The owners bought up city blocks and restored them to historically accurate buildings. Walking through the hotel is like taking a step back in time. The jewel of the hotel is the museum that is dedicated to the history of the island, which includes the slave trade. Although a very sad exhibit, it is historically significant AND incredible to actually see items like they have.
The food at the hotel is impressive, but perhaps expensive for some. We loved both of the hotels Kura Hulanda has to offer. If you are looking for a city experience that is unusual and enriching, this is it!

Transportation:
Scheduled transportation between Hotel Kura Hulanda Spa and Casino to and from its sister property, the five star Resort Lodge Kura Hulanda and Beach Club, also a member of the Small Leading Hotels of the World is available. The ride takes approximately 40 minutes through Curacao s scenic countryside. Scheduled transportation to Kura Huland Beach Club - Located 15 minutes away from the Hotel.
