Overview
Amanwella is a beachfront resort with 30 contemporary suites, each with private pool & terrace. Located amid a mature coconut grove, in front of a crescent shaped beach and close to the quiet village of Tangalle. Leave stress and noise behind when you enter this resort famed for its outstanding service and impressive library, coupled with one of the quietest beaches on the island.
Amanwella boasts a bay of its own where guests may snorkel amongst the rocks or just cool off in the ocean before relaxing on their private terrace. All 30 suites enjoy views across the ocean as they climb the hillside.
Our restaurant is perched eight metres above sea level, offering stunning views across the pool toward the coconut grove & beach. Table seating is on two elevated levels and outdoor seating is available. The cuisine is Asian and Mediterranean with an emphasis on local seafood from the Indian Ocean.
It is easy to see how the resort name Aman - "peace" in Sanskrit and wella - "beach" in Sinhala was derived.

COLOMBO S BANDARANAIKE AIRPORT IS THE SOLE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN SRI LANKA AND IS LOCATED ABOUT 30KM NORTH OF THE CITY. TRAVEL TIME BETWEEN THE AIRPORT AND THE CITY CENTRE VARIES BETWEEN 45 AND 60 MINUTES.
GUESTS HAVE THE OPTION OF TAKING A VEHICLE DIRECT TO AMANGALLA-OR-STAYING OVERNIGHT IN COLOMBO THE ADVANTAGE OF TRANSFERRING DIRECT TO AMANGALLA ON ARRIVAL IS THE ROADS ARE QUIETER LATE AT NIGHT AND THE DRIVE WILL GENERALLY TAKE TWO AND A HALF HOURS.
