A Nice Getaway

Perfect location in the historic district, everything was within walking distance. Tastefully decorated hotel. The staff is courteous and helpful and there is a convenient coffee shop just off the lobby. The rooms are very nice, a bit small but the size is to be expected in a 150 year old hotel. The quaint rooms are a part of the charm in staying in historic St. Augustine. -Kerry Raskin , from Southern Shores, United States - 2/7/2010
Pleasurable Experience

We stayed for two nights including New Year's Eve, and had a wonderful time. All of the staff were helpful and pleasant. The bedroom, though not large, reflected the age and style of the hotel, and was comfortable, very clean, and relaxing. Even on a busy evening such as December 31st, we were not disturbed by noise. Although we did not eat in the hotel restaurant, when we returned from dinner, we enjoyed live music in the bar and complimentary champagne! -Paul Kuhn , from Vero Beach, United States - 1/5/2010
Nice, but Over-Priced

There was a hair on the counter touching the drinking glass. The problem was taken care of immediately. The girl at the front desk argued that we were not entitled to receive the complimentary champagne. Once she called the concierge it was brought to the room immediately. The television set needs to be updated. Other than those three things that we encountered when we arrived, Casa Monica is beautiful with excellent food and friendly valet service. It is also very secure, requiring a card swipe in the elevator. I just don't know if I would stay there again simply because of the price. I have stayed at similar boutique hotels that cost much less (The Lombardy in D.C. and the St. Anthony in San Antonio.) -Lisa Bond , from covington, United States - 12/11/2009
Pay for Parking

This was our 3rd visit to Casa Monica and our only disappointment was that we spent most of our time painting our son's apartment so we did not get out to the beach club and we missed the "Happy Hour". There was a good jazz-standards group playing Friday night and we did get to sit down for a cocktail later in the evening. My pet peeve with some hotels is the extra charge ($20 per night at CM) for parking. Really, who walks or rides a bike to a hotel these days? Just up the rates to cover parking and be done with it! -Margaret Ford , from Nassau, United States - 11/17/2009

Loved this hotel!! Beautiful, clean, quite, no detail overlooked. Great location. Front desk staff very nice and helpful, as were valet and dining staff. We have stayed at many hotels in several countries and this is one of the best. Loved the period decor. Will not stay anywhere else when in St. Augustine. Perfect!! Thank you Mr. Kessler for preserving this historic building! Cannot wait to stay at another Kessler Hotel. Requested the early check-in, got it. Requested upgraded room, got it. Requested late check-out, got it. Hotel honored all the extras Perfect Escapes mentioned. -Dale Garrison , from Naples, United States - 9/8/2009

Made our reservation through Perfect Escapes. The Casa Monica and Perfect Escapes both lived up to their claims. Our reservations went through without any problems. We received an early check in, upgraded room, champagne, $40.00 towards breakfast, and 4pm checkout for $119.00!!! Casa Monica was beautiful, front desk staff professional and very accommodating, room looked new and very clean as was the lobby, elevators, etc. Location prime. Could not have asked for a better stay. Very quiet. Every detail covered in the period decor. Loved it!!! I've stayed many places and this is definitely one of the best!!! -Dale, from Naples, United States - 9/5/2009

Good Value At Perfect Escapes Price.

Nice hotel. A lot of history there. Great location. Close to downtown. Valet parking is $20 and not optional, so not a good place to stay if you want to use your car a lot. Great if you want to hit St. George street and some of the great restaurants close by. (Bistro De Leon our favorite). Our room was clean and spacious enough. Relaxing pool area with plenty of cabanas. Breakfast at 95 Cordova (in hotel lobby) was delicious. Will make a habit of staying there. -Tim, from Gainesville, United States - 9/1/2009
Nice Hotel, but Not All Rooms Up to Standard
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Our first room was extremely small, only a small window near the ceiling gave the feeling of a cellar room. Fortunately we received an upgrade after we complained. The next room had two small windows but at least we could reach them. Late check-out as indicated in the description [on availability] was not possible. -Maximilian Boehmer , from Koeln, Germany - 7/14/2009
No Confirmed Reservation

I enjoyed the property and the
restaurant. It was a good experience but there lacked a great deal of attention to my confirmed reservation which easily could have been avoided in my opinion to make it an outstanding and very pleasant experience. -Kevin, from West Palm beach, United States - 6/29/2009

Promised a premium room-given a room with a window the size of a book. Room was small and dirty. Most disappointing. A bottle of wine was part of the package-I called to ask for it and was promised that it would be right up. Called again 2 hours later and it arrived several hours after that. Had dinner in the hotel dining room. Was served by an eye-rolling condescending waiter who was unhappy about serving a single woman. Really, not a pleasant experience. -Sandra Wasserman , from sarasota, United States - 5/19/2009

The hotel is lovely and service great in a wonderful location. The rates were high for a basic room and the amenities listed were not available such as bathrobes. We are glad we stayed there once but would not stay there again as we can get a room with more amenities for a much better price. -Paytra Stein , from Jacksonville, United States - 12/2/2008
