A Place (d'Armes) to Remember
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Our trip to Quebec City 3 years ago was wonderful so my wife and I decided to return to Canada and specifically to Montreal for a vacation and 60th birthday getaway. (Neither of us have been to Montreal before). Place d'Armes was more than pleasant, our stay was close to perfect. Location is everything and the hotel is situated close to so many things: the harbor area, Chinatown, museums, shopping, tourist attractions, the Metro, etc. that it made things all the more easy. We drove to the Hotel from CT and never once took the car out of garage once during our stay. Each day began with a filling breakfast at Suite 701 that powered us well through the mornings. We toured, shopped, visited lovely cafe's only to return to an immaculately clean room, friendly staff, and concierge service at a moments notice. Awards and ratings of excellence are well deserved as our stay was delightful. We look forward to a return visit sometime soon. -Harvey Rubin , from Litchfield, United States - 7/22/2009
Charming Hotel
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Combines modern and classic decor in a charming boutique hotel. Staff are pleasant, rooms well-furnished and clean. Offers complementary breakfast as well as wine/cheese tasting in afternoon in a bar area that boasts a decent night scene. Location is excellent for visiting old Montreal with easy access to downtown as well. I would definitely go back. The sister hotel is the Hotel Nelligan. -Eric, from New York, United States - 7/14/2009
Flawless
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Everything--from the friendly and helpful reception, professional and polite concierge (thank you Marco!), ample complimentary breakfast, elegant complimentary wine & cheese, spacious bathroom (whirlpool tub AND large shower) to the chic and comfortable room--was flawless at this hotel. My husband and I and our 13 year old daughter splurged on a Junior Suite and we were all delighted with the room and with the hotel. The location was perfect--one long block to the Metro and a few strides into charming Vieux Montreal. The only caveat: rooms facing St. Antoine may hear fire engine sirens from the nearby station. -Wendy, from Wynnewood, United States - 6/24/2009
Great Location

Location was excellent. One block from Notre Dame. Would recommend the sound and light show at Notre Dame. Also only two blocks from the metro. Enjoyed the wine and cheese evening event. Staff very accommodating. -Mari Lehtonen, from The Villages, United States - 5/29/2009
Hotel Place d'Armes, Montreal

Good value for the dollar, excellent location, rooms well decorated and comfortable. Cold breakfast, but many choices, wine and cheese great idea for an afternoon repast. We had dinner in hotel, limited menu, and somewhat pricey, but food was very good. -Eduardo Ferrer , from Murrieta, United States - 5/28/2009
Wonderful Downtown Experience
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The location and service at this hotel are great. The rooms are comfortable, beds fantastic and the bath area just wonderful. The bar area was crowded and lively and the food was good. This hotel is a good hotel for the value, not too expensive and in the middle of things. -Michael Manieri , from west chester, United States - 5/19/2009
Beautiful Room and Great Location
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The room was spacious and looked just like the web site showed it to be. We enjoyed the jetted whirlpool bath tub that also had a shower head and shower curtain. The hotel's web site did not make it clear that the spa tubs also had a shower so we were glad to see that it had both.
Complimentary breakfast had a large selection of cereals, pastries, bagels, and fruit. Complimentary wine and cheese was OK in terms of wine but it had good cheese. The restaurant on the bottom level of the hotel was outstanding.
Valet parking was quick. Beware of construction projects near the hotel since we ran into several detours. A map of local area might be needed.
Notre Dame and its square is diagonally across the street and is stunning! -Nancy Oneill , from ATLANTA, United States - 5/18/2009
Go First Class in Vieux-Montreal
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
It was as advertised -- an excellent hotel in what used to be a bank insurance company building but completely renovated. Large windows, big room, big luxury tile bathroom with great tub, and a very comfortable working space and large arm chair. Lighting was excellent. Climate control was excellent with a barely audible fan and real hot water radiator in the bathroom under the window. None of the icy bathroom found in most hotels, even most Hampton Inns. The free wine and cheese is acceptable. You pay for valet parking but the car was delivered quickly. It is handy to Old Montreal and the Convention Center. The restaurant is excellent but expensive. The staff were uniformly friendly and service-oriented. -Robert, from Freeville, United States - 3/27/2009

Very good complementary breakfast AND complementary wine & cheese. Excellent service, a great blend of contemporary decorating in a historic building. The only thing to be aware of is that the bar is a zoo on Thursdays. -Wayne Rudiger , from Pleasant Hill, United States - 10/18/2008

My girlfriend and I were in Montreal from Maine for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le Place d'Armes. The room was very clean and had all the amenities I would expect from a nice hotel including a decent little bookshelf stereo w/ CD player and a very comfortable, bed bug free bed (I was paranoid and checked the mattress). Had we spent a week there I could definitely have seen us spending an entire day in our room but Montreal is so much fun we opted to get out on the town. We generally do not stay in luxury/trendy hotels so I'm not an expert but I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family who could afford it. Drinks at the hotel lounge and rooftop bar were expensive ($11) and much smaller than I'm used to but the view from the roof was worth it. Staff was friendly and helpful. -Thomas Sharkey , from Portland, United States - 8/27/2008

I had a bathroom that lovely at home -- and how grand if I could get someone to come and clean it every day...
