Overview
JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa located directly on the white sandy beaches of Cancun's main hotel zone, featuring expansive pools and impressive views of the Caribbean from restaurants and guestrooms. JW vs Fiesta Americana Coral Beach

Spent 9 days at each. Fiesta Americana has lagoon ocean, you can float without waves.
It also has an excellent location, near malls and restaurants. Does not have sit down hair dryers and they turn the common area air off around 6:00. The JW has a much rougher beach, but swim-able. Great spa and indoor pool and 8 restaurants between it and the Casa Magna next door. You can use all Casa Magna facilities and charge to your room at JW. Of the two I would recommend the JW. Really nice are the separate shower, the views from any room, I don't think they have a bad room, they all at least partially face the ocean, except on the first floor, but I have never seen anyone in those.

I just came back from my trip to Cancun and stayed at the JW Marriott. The hotel is gorgeous, it is one of the most beautiful hotels around. The entrance is beautiful and inviting, the swimming pool area is well designed facing the ocean, and the gardens are beautiful and give you a sense of tropical paradise in an elegant environment...it is just breathtaking. The food is great, this is a place where all the employees are happy to help you if you have any questions or need. Cancun is an expensive place so if you are going to pay the price it is better to do it in a place that deserves it. The city is nice and clean, we took the bus which is less than a dollar per person. There is this restaurant in downtown called "Perico's" and we had tons of fun there, I recommend it. Swimming with the Dolphins was nice and the ruins of Chichen Itza were amazing, a must see. My husband and I were fascinated and if we have to come back to Cancun, we'll return to the JWM.
