Overview
Located on the white sands of the Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen and nestled in the tropical forest, The Tides Riviera Maya (formerly Ikal del Mar) is the resort counterpart of being invited to an exclusive private villa and stunning spa.
The 30-villa property and its stunning spa represent the epitome of Mayan Riviera beach unpretentious luxury, exuding the ambiance of an exclusive private Playa del Carmen villa or opulent residential compound. Each villa features over 1,000 square feet of secluded space, an outdoor terrace replete with chaise lounge, dining table, handmade crochet hammock and outdoor shower.
The restaurants at our luxury Playa del Carmen resort are for exclusive use of guests and their invited guests only. Azul, the fine poetry of dining in Playa del Carmen, specializes in Mediterranean, Mexican and Mayan cuisines. The chef will also prepare special dishes on request.
The Tides Riviera Maya is a seaside refuge extending deep into the primitive Mayan tropical forest.

A Journey

My husband and I had recently renewed our wedding vows after a somewhat difficult journey of 38 years. As "renewly weds", we sought to spend time alone to begin our new journey. The word "journey" best describes our experience at The Tides. We came apprehensive, not seasoned travelers to foreign countries nor accustom to selecting destinations in this price range. We were a little confused by the "surprises" we received. We were expecting much less; by day two, however, we began to get the idea that the staff had an experience of their own in mind. By day three, there was no longer any explanation necessary.
Our visit to The Tides was a journey we will never forget. I could tell you every detail to the fullest but could never express the actual experience of the journey and the sincere intent of the staff to purpose it to come to pass.
The journey for us has not ended. It has just begun and we appreciate everything the staff did to make what we envisioned a reality.
