“A design hotel for grown-ups” raves Condé Nast Traveler, the Granados 83 Hotel is a radically updated neoclassical property, just 10 minutes’ walk from the Rambla Catalunya and within easy striking distance of sights like La Pedrera, Gaudi's masterpiece on the Paseo de Gracia, and Eixample’s shopping streets.
This intimate city pad is not short of facilities, which include a trendy basement bar and a Mediterranean-Asian fusion restaurant with an outdoor patio, but, as Travel + Leisure magazine notes, it’s the rooftop infinity pool that’s the real “showstopper”. There’s also an adjoining bar, which is open to the skies in the summer and covered by a sliding roof during the winter months.
The historic structure envelops a modern glass atrium and renovated interiors are industrial in style, adorned with Roman mosaics and original Hindu and Buddhist art from the owner’s private collection. Rooms -- described by National Geographic Traveler as “spacious” -- are minimal, loft-like spaces, kitted out with masculine hardwoods, exposed brickwork, and leather. Larger rooms are spread across two stories, affording even more space.
Barcelona Airport is only 15 minutes away by taxi. There’s also the Aerobus, which runs between the airport and Plaça Catalunya every 5-20 minutes until 12.30am, and costs around €6 for a one-way ticket. The nearest metro station to the hotel is Diagonal, 10 minutes away.
